FIERCE FRIDAYS!: What to Eat???

So, Fridays at GETFIERCE I’ll be answering YOUR questions…what YOU want to know about. Send your questions to with the subject, “FIERCE FRIDAY ?”

This weeks quesiton came from Andrea E.: Is there a specific diet plan that you think is better for your body? Paleo? Vegan? Vegetarian?

This is a GREAT question and one I love because there is NO right answer! I know what’s right for MY body, but only YOU know what’s right for you! Some people crave, respond well, feel alive when they eat meat and poultry, for me…not so much. I tend to stick to mainly veggies and fish. There are times when I eat chicken and on rare occasion meatballs by no means am I vegetarian, but I tend to mainly eat that way. I start my days out with a few hard boiled egg whites. Check this out…you can see my typical day’s food:

My Day

  • 8:00AM 3 egg whites with 2 tbsp hummus, a small baked sweet potato & whole grapefruit peeled
  • 11AM 16 oz green juice (lemon, parsley, kale, spinach, cuke, apple)
  • 2PM cup of organic soup (split pea, veg. chili, butternut squash), one cup quinoa salad & an apple with 1 tsp almond or raw peanut butter
  • 7PM 2 cups assorted steamed veggies (usually broccoli, cauliflower, string beans, carrots, brussel sprouts etc) and 2 egg whites & orange
  • Throughout the day I have minimum 2 liters of water THIS IS ALL DAYS and I aim for WAY MORE!
Now, don’t get me wrong, this is an IDEAL day for me! I have moments where I give into cravings, a cookie here or there, wine with friends (which I very much enjoy!) I make up for it in the gym and by eating healthfully more often than not. It’s a game and the biggest part is to stay in the game and not quit on yourself.

A Few General Rules

  • Drink lots of water!
  • Add in more greens, brocoli, kale, spinach, parsley, bok choi etc.
  • Go Organic (or as much as possible)
  • Eat local and shop at farmers markets when you can
  • Eat seasonally (like what’s growing in the area in that time of year)
  • The most important rule (in my opinion) is listen to your body. Eat what makes you feel good, eat when you’re hungry, and stop when you’re full (being an FFK {former fat kid} this is one that I’ve learned over time.

I love you! Thank you for sending all of these amazing questions!

Have a fantasticly FIERCE weekend!!! See you on MONDAY!
