I am Great, I am Grateful!: It’s a Challenge!

So Thursday’s on the GETFIERCE page are all about challenging ourselves. These challenges are meant to build ourselves up, to feel good, to be strong and to grow! This week’s it’s all about flexing our mental muscle. How FIERCE can you get?

The Challenge

For the next week, each night I want you to end the day with a gratitude list. List out 10 things that you are grateful for. We spend (hopefully) 8 hours sleeping, so what a great way to go to sleep, by thinking wonderful, happy, grateful thoughts before bed. Letting go of what we haven’t done or are worried about happening the next day and seeing all that you have that IS GOOD!

This  is one of my favorite things to do. Sometimes when I get in a slump, or feel a little down I start to think about all of the amazing things in my life. I’m so good at this game I really do see the seemingly “littlest things” in life as mini blessings. Here’s my gratitude list from last night to give you some ideas. I make them different each day (there are some repeats for sure, but I try to keep them as unique as possible).

I’m Grateful For…

  1. My Amazing Roommates, I love your love!
  2. My Rockin’ Cycling classes today! I’m still reeling from all three from 6:15AM to 7:45PM…these kids killed it!
  3. My FIERCE Clients! Such great jobs today!
  4. Dakota, our Fab Pooch
  5. My 1/2 caff Hazelnut Coffee this morning and the lady behind the counter that always says, “Good Morning, Dyan!” Love that!
  6. An awesome episode of Revenge!
  7. Already having grocery shopped and didn’t have to ‘pop into’ Whole Foods!
  8. The awesome reviews from class tonight from the peeps at the front desk…Felt SO GOOD! THANK YOU!
  9. My website. I’m having so much fun with it.
  10. My support system. I really do have the greatest people all around me!!! xxx

It really IS a blast you guys! I promise you’ll go to bed with a smile on your face and it starts the circle of appreciation. Why not kick off all that bedtime with an attitude of gratitude?

    3. My amazing family and friends.
    4. My Get Fierce training class w/ Dyan. It is awesome! Dyan you are the reason my blood pressure is normal vs. my 180 systolic before your classes! Now to work on my cholesterol level…hmm. do you teach a cooking and eating class 😛
    5. Being able to attend Spin Class with Dyan this week! It’s not every week I have the opportunity to go.
    6. My Boot Camp class with Maki. When will I ever be able to get 50% of that workout done w/o cheating? =P
    7. My Vinyasa Yoga class with Jeffrey. His meditation class always refreshes my mind and gives me a much needed mental break from work and all these die-hard physically challenging classes. I feel my soul being rejuvenated! It’s that good! 🙂
    8. My ability to still have a job. You Citi employees know what i’m talking about. LOL
    9. My cup of Green Tea each morning.
    10. My being at 388… Alas, i’m being transferred to JC.. but i’m glad to be in this building each day while I’m still here. 🙂

  4. AWESOME advice. I am not shy so, I’ll go ahead and say it. My name is Kirby, and I’m an alcoholic. Over 7 years ago when I put down the bottle and picked a dumb bell, I found myself a good AA sponsor. One of the “suggestions” he had me do was to write a gratitude list for 30 days, although I did not know it was for a specified time. I just did what I was told. I remember it was during a particularly hot summer and towards the end of the 30 days, I was writing things like I’m grateful for air conditioning. Then finally 30 days came, and I wrote “I’m grateful for 30 days of sobriety” and that was exactly what he was looking for. He has to write 35 gratitude lists because he didn’t like being thankful for 30 days sober on the day after he achieved it. Since then, I’ve lost over 60 pounds, have become a certified personal trainer, obtained a bachelors degree in kinesiology, and am a 3 time marathon finisher. I am officially in training for the NY Marathon in November, and I will be posting my running blogs on my site here. http://kirbsfitness.wordpress.com/
