It’s Monday, another week, it’s getting chilly (or freezing here in New York) and it’s further away from that New Year’s fresh start (unless your Chinese and in that case HAPPY NEW YEAR!). It can be challenging to stay in the game, to stay motivated. HOW do you keep getting up out of bed to go to the gym, making smart food choices, believing in you? It’s a choice and one that’s all yours.
What helps me to stay motivated is keep remembering WHY. Why I do what I do, why I’m putting in all the hours at the gym, drinking all the water, going to bed early. I want to feel good, I want to be a good example for my students and clients, I want to be proud of me, AND I want to not only fit into my pants, I wanna look HOT in ’em!
Check out this TED talk by Simon Sinek on How Great Leaders Inspire. I love Simon and his amazing book, Start with Why. Now, the focus on this talk is based on leadership and business, BUT we are each the leaders of our own lives. This is a great way to stay focused on your goals either in your work or in your health, your relationships or your life’s vision. What’s YOUR why? Why do you want to lose the weight, get fit, whatever.
Write it and Remember!
Write out your ‘why’ and remember it, read it often. When you hit snooze on your alarm in the AM, when you reach for that afternoon snack ask yourself, “Is this helping me? Is this getting me closer to my goal?” Be your own inspiration!
I can see you GETTING FIERCE!
