I’m taking the next 10 days OFF! I haven’t taken a stretch of time for myself this long in over 3 years. I’m excited and committed to having fun, working out (for myself), and relaxing. Not to fear, I do have Wi-Fi and will be posting while I’m gone.
Today I want to revisit a post I did back in January called TAKE 5. It’s about taking time for ourselves and meditating. Being that I’m wicked smat…I’m going to take my own advice. With everything you do each day how often do you “Take 5” or even a mindful deep breath for yourself? Life gets crazy, one thing after another and then it’s bed time (and later than expected). When was the last time you set out a few minutes for yourself to breathe, reflect or crazy enough just to sit in peace?
I love the way I feel when I meditate, but it’s been longer than I like to admit since I’ve been in a regular practice. Here or there, once or twice a week I’ll sit and listen to a guided meditation and It feels SO great, but it takes time. I know how my non-meditating friends feel now when they say, “It stresses me out to meditate!” It can be true it is a practice to quiet your mind and just ‘be’. Thoughts of all the things I have to do, what I’m going to eat, or wear, or “What was that sound?” pop into my mind. It takes time to fine your zone. Once or twice a week isn’t enough for me, I want more!
If you want to meditate, great, if you want to sit quietly, great, if you want to dust off your journal and write, awesome! The game is to take 5 minutes and do just that today, find your zone. When Someone asks where you’re going tell them you’re pulling a Penny…”She’s takin’ a break she needs a break!” You need time for you!
